Maintaining Your Carpet

December 29th, 2011

Carpet can last for years and still look good even in high traffic areas if taken care of.  Some quick tips on keeping your carpet looking good:

  • Vacuum weekly – This prevents excessive soil buildup and reduces wear on the carpet fibers
  • Use a carpet rake – A carpet rake (can be ordered online from Home Depot and other sources) is cheap (about $20) and helps break up soil and keeps and brings back the life in carpet that has been matted down.
  • Steam Clean every 3 months – Having a complete steam clean done on your carpet every 3 months for heavy traffic areas and every 6 months for low traffic will add years of life to your carpet.
