Cleaning Tips | 2019 | Starting A Cleaning Company II

Every other week another startup cleaning company appears.   If you really want to start a cleaning service or maid service don’t worry – despite all the competition you only have yourself and what you do as an owner and
company to worry about.

The reality is that the incompetence level of other cleaning companies is staggering and just because two maids and a dollar store mop can start up their own business (I think they did actually) doesn’t mean
you have to worry about them.

Name For Success

Don’t spend too much time on the name and just get them flyers on out there!?  WRONG.  Don’t shortcut your companies name.

You company name should be:

  • Original – please don’t the same horrible names everybody uses
  • Match a domain name so your domain and business name match
  • Easy to remember and catchy
  • Not obscure like J&J cleaning or something lame like that

More on the subject of matching a domain name with your business name: Use whois.icann.org to lookup a domain name to make sure it’s available.

Matching your business name with a domain name is critical.  For example it really sucks to say you company name is Maids In America (trademarked by us) and have a domain maidsinamerica104.com since maidsinamerica.com was already taken by us.

Google My Business

Besides getting that name established for your business another cheap and easy step in the direction of staying in business is to add your company to different business directions such as:

  • Google
  • Bing
  • Yelp
  • Yahoo

Focusing on Google right now you will want to go to Google My Business.  Setup you business and address verification by following the easy steps.  It’s free and easy.

Ultimately the goal is to rank in the “snack pack.”  The “snack pack” is the first 3 positions in Google Local on the first page (see below).
